Are your kids extra wiggly? Is it a struggle to keep them seated? Then this post is for you!
Have you done the “Sid Shuffle” yet?
Most likely students are not getting enough movement throughout the day. To help you calculate how long a child should be able to engage in a quiet activity such as read-aloud or seat work (and demonstrate how much they really need to move), try taking the child’s age and adding 2 minutes.
3 year old= 5 minutes
5 year old= 7 minutes
7 year old= 9 minutes
9 year old= 11 minutes

But what about those students who do have ADHD or as we call, “teacher diagnosed” ADHD,...well, take their age MINUS 2 minutes!
3 year old= 1 minute
5 year old= 3 minutes
7 year old= 5 minutes
9 year old= 7 minutes

You get the idea that children today need lots of motor breaks to keep them in tune to what they are learning. Watch the video below to see how fun brain breaks can be for adults too!
