These specialized kits were designed help promote numeracy and number sense in elementary learners through the use of non-traditional manipulatives.
Manipulatives in these kits are both proportional and non-proportional and have been selected to promote CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) means of instruction. In a classroom, the tools in this kit would be supplemented with traditional manipulatives, such as dice and base-10 blocks.
These collections of materials have been assembled to target each grade level, and the manipulatives would be stored in the Math Salad Bar. This list of manipulative is not complete, but it features products that we feel help students develop a 21st Century mindset in math and be able to explain their mathematical thinking.
