Leading the Shift: Building a Coherent Vision

This two-day series includes grade-band-specific learning on Day 1, with separate sessions for K–5 and 6–12 leaders, followed by a combined K–12 session on Day 2 focused on building coherence and alignment across the mathematics continuum.

Session Descriptions

Day 1 - 8/13/2026

Leading the Shift in Elementary Mathematics (K-5)

This session prepares elementary leaders to recognize and support high-quality 21st century math instruction across K-5 classrooms. Administrators will explore instrutional look-fors aligned to effective teaching practices, number routines, math workshop structures, and differentiation so they can confidently lead meaningful improvement in elementary mathematics.

Leading the Shift in Secondary Mathematics (6-12)

Designed for middle and high school leaders, this workshop focuses on strengthening conceptual mathematics instruction through the lens of NCTM’s Effective Teaching Practices and rigorous thinking tasks. Administrators will examine teacher and student actions, experience number sense and low-floor/high-ceiling tasks, and connect classroom practice to frameworks such as Webb’s Depth of Knowledge and Smith & Stein’s task analysis.

Day 2 - 1/27/2027

Building a Coherent Vision for Math Across the System (K-12)

This collaborative session brings elementary and secondary leaders together to develop a unified, districtwide vision for mathematics teaching and learning. Participants will align instrutional look-fors, deepen understanding of conceptual mathematics across grade bands, and identify shared leadership actions that sustain lasting K-12 instructional change.

Thousands of K-12 schools struggle to meet math performance standards, leaving them at a loss for how to improve results.

Strategic Intervention Solutions provides professional development, coaching, and classroom resources to help teachers confidently equip their students to excel in math.
