Quantitative pictures contain lots of things to count, and help translate abstract numbers into real life situations to help them come alive for students. Applying concrete, pictorial, and abstract means, use the At the Beach picture along with a selection of word problems (part/part/whole, missing addend, subtraction and challenge), to help kids develop the early number sense and oral language they’ll need to master story problems.
