Early childhood teachers have historically struggled to find an efficient way to track students’ progress through the K-2 years. It is very difficult to authentically assess children at this age because assessment must be completed individually in a one-on-one conference with the student, the results compiled and the analyzed, and then the process must be repeated throughout the year. Our newest partner ESGI (Educational Software for Guiding Instruction) has determined that teachers can spend an average of 400 hours just on assessment over the course of a year, and they think that is too much time. ESGI has developed a tool that automates the one-on-one assessment process for the early childhood classroom, and even makes assessment paperless!
How it Works
When you’re ready to assess your students, just call them over to your computer or iPad, they will answer the questions on the screen, and you will record their answers to complete the assessment. You receive immediate feedback on their progress, and the data is saved in their individual records as well so you can analyze their progress over time. Additional reports can instantly show you how your class is doing as a whole on a specific concept so you can adjust instruction or create flexible groups as needed.
What can you assess with ESGI?

Class Management Tool (CMT) automates classroom tasks that can be so time-consuming for teachers each week. After loading student names once into CMT, teachers easily manage student lists, organize class photos and print pre-loaded templates like Table Name Plates and Name Writing Practice.
- Resources for Parents, in both English and Spanish, allow parents to see their child’s progress and to solidify their child’s learning through personalized practice.
- Print the Test History to document assessment dates and show student progress.
-

Parent Conferencer
Parent Conferencer allows you to schedule conferences and print or email reminders, or print pie charts or parent letter reports to share during conferences.
