Instant Feedback in the Classroom with Plickers!

Dec 5, 2016

What if you had a tool that would let you scan your classroom and get immediate feedback about whether or not students understand the concept?

plickersPlickers is that tool!  Load the app onto your smartphone or tablet, and you have an instantaneous exit ticket or formative assessment that can help you drive instruction immediately.
This tool is unique because, unlike other tools that gather student responses, Plickers doesn’t require students to have any kind of device. Students give their response with a special card, provided by Plickers (https://plickers.com/cards). The cards are numbered, and you can assign students a specific card, or you can just plickers carddistribute cards and gather feedback in random mode. You ask the multiple choice or true/false question, and the students hold up their card in a specific orientation that indicates their answer. You hold your smart device up in front of the class, and the app automatically captures the students’ responses, recording them for your reference and providing you a quick snapshot of their understanding.

If you are a “plan ahead” kind of person, you can make question sets ahead of time through the Plickers website and load them in a queue for your upcoming classes. Then, when you log into the app on your smart device, they will be ready to go. If you thrive more in the spontaneous moments of assessment, you can quickly open the app, create a simple question, and capture responses.
Either way, you can instantly see who chose which answer and then make instructional decisions based on that information.  All the data for questions asked is also saved within your account that you can return to it later if you need to.
Plickers is can be a great way to jazz up your test review, do a quick check for understanding, or even gather an exit ticket from students. Because it is so simple, you can use it with young students, but older students (and even professional audiences) enjoy it too! However you use it, it’s free and it’s easy and we hope you’ll love it!
