Introducing…T-Pops’ Place Value Board! On sale now!

Math Mights Brand Logo

The original place value board that we were using was discontinued, so we designed our own in conjunction with our Math Mights that will be released very soon! This product went live in our store this week – the first of many new products to be launched in this new year! See below for a special offer on place value discs in honor of our new release!

T-Pops is the traditional character from our new Math Mights series. It is really important for kids to understand that while they’re doing traditional that they’re not “carrying” a one, they’re renaming or regrouping. They’re not “borrowing,” they’re renaming a number, and are able to see it in a non-proportional way.

This colorful, unique place value board is suitable for whole numbers and decimals when using non proportional manipulatives such as the place value discs or the decimal discs.

Often, you don’t actually need to label the columns. For example, if I had four 10 discs with 10 written on them, and then I had labelled the column with “Tens,” someone might think that it represented 40 tens. For our place value board, we left labels at the top of the columns blank, allowing you to write in the places values you’d like to use or leave them blank at your discretion.

The right side of the board also has a dry erase area where students can write the algorithm and record anything they’re doing with the movement. The quality of the dry erase feature of this board is upgraded to allow for repeated use in the classroom.

See the board in action with both whole number and decimal addition:

These boards are available in two sets. The 5-pack is recommended for small group use, while the 15-pack is appropriate in most whole class settings as many of our teachers have students use the boards in pairs when they’re using the place value discs or strips. If you want each student to have their own board, you will most likely need multiple packs.

To celebrate this new product, we are offering 15% off the purchase of whole number discs or decimal tiles with the purchase of a set of our new T-Pops’ Place Value Boards. Simply add the discs and/or tiles to the cart along with your set of place value boards and enter coupon code TPOPSRULES at checkout. (Offer valid through 1/20/18)
